I didn't bother to name the other teams because right now, it's not important. As you'll note, we also have the best Goals Against (GA) with only 5 in 7 games. Looks like another stellar year for Jamie. Our Goals For (GF) is only at 15 but I must also note that out of our 21 man roster close to half are suffering major injuries. Lets keep up with the wins guys, the season has just begun. Pascal’s chip to the corner led to a cross by McGloin onto the head of Nathan and into the back of the net. This quick goal took the wind out of the oppositions sails. For the remainder of the half the play went back and forth with Jamie pulling out a few crucial saves to keep the score 1 - 0.

In the second, The Machine started to feel the affects of the heat and began to play there game. Many balls played through the middle were getting swallowed up which made it hard to keep possession. As the game wore on the tides changed again and the Machine appeared to have gained new legs. We started using our wings, pushing the ball and adding more pressure. A shot by Johnny from the far corner almost found the back of the net, but just went over the crossbar. In the last 2 minutes, a scramble in front of our net saw Jamie dive at a header attempt but the ball went wide. The whistle blew and the game ended 1 – 0. With this win machine goes up 2 – 0 in the standings, with 7 goals for and 0 against. Overall, a great team effort. Winning such a close game proves we can gain a lead and keep it, which will come in handy as the season goes on.

Now this doesn’t normally happen but I’m doing it because a few people mentioned how well they played yesterday. An honorable mention goes out to Jeff Terpstra and Kyle Woodtke for the great extra effort they put out playing on the left half and defense. Both of these guys worked there tails off and the WHOLE team appreciates it. Way to go boys.

Mean Machine.

Machine Gunning For 2 - 0 Start

The second game of the season see's the Mean Machine taking on Gloucester at the Hornets Nest #10 tonight at 6:30pm. I (Matt) showed up with Karine expecting to watch the game only to find the guys with only 4 players against a Les Panties full sqaud (first time ever!!). Despite the short handed play, Mean Machine struck first as Jeff T lobbed one under the keeper. In the distance you could hear a Justin Peca yell out "The Beer Is On Me Man". Honestly, just getting to watch Mean Machine strike first blood was something else. But Peca DID buy the beer after the game, before walking out early. Thanks bud, it went down nice!!

Throughout the game Pasqal bugged and nagged until I finally hockey tapped up the ankle, put on the extra gear and jumped into the game. (Sorry for the stink Pascal, but you asked for it). Unfortunatly the score was 2 - 1 by the time I did my beauty stretches and made it into the game.

Midway through the 2nd half Jason R joined the fight, but the panties were already up 3 - 1. Nancy tried all her tricks but Jason couldn't be fooled. I think he was actually ready to smack her at one point... but held off. Sorry Nancy, sometimes the boys can get out of hand, even when you Vagina slap them.

The Panties played hard as did the Machine however the score ended 3 - 1. We all drank beers after the game and had a great time. They won the shirts this year, but that's NOT the end.

See you all next season,
Mean Machine.

OZ Dome Playoffs Underway

To our surprise our indoor season isn’t over just yet. We’ve been informed by the OZ Dome that Playoffs are now starting. Mean Machine is set to play Bells Corners tonight at 7pm. The captain ‘Juice’ was informed earlier this week and relayed the information to the team, so obviously everyone is excited about this. We now have the chance to take first overall by winning the playoffs. Bells Corners has a good team, we’ve tied twice this season both games ending 2 -2. With our star goalie 'Jamie' in net this game and a full squad set to show up, we’re confident that we’ll take them down and move on to the next round. I think everyone is also excited about having such an early game. It’s so much easier playing at 7pm rather than 11pm.

We can also catch the last two periods of the Senators game on the big screen as well. See you all there tonight.

Let’s go Mean Machine.

Indoor Is Over For Another Year

Thursday came and went as we played our final game of the indoor season against ‘Les Panties’. As noted in the last post, this game was our chance to come from behind and gather a much needed 3 points.

11pm rolled around and everyone showed up to play. Despite a great first effort ‘Les Panties’ managed to strike first blood and then twist the dagger a little deeper getting there second just before the half.

Coach Juice gave Machine a talking too on the sidelines and really pumped up the squad. Mean came out hard in the second and only minutes in, after a scrum around the net, McGloin potted a much needed goal. This provided extra momentum which then lead to Machines second goal, thanks to Pascal.

The match ended in a 2 – 2 tie (Mean’s 5th of the season and obviously one of the reason’s we finished 4th overall) and we all shook hands thanking each other for a great game. A great game it was, because both sides had a few opportunities go the way side thanks to the cross bar and goal posts. This game could have been won by either side.

All in all, it was a fun Season. Mean Machine would like to thank the OZ Dome for providing some great off season practice.

On another note: With spring in full force and summer just around the corner, Mean Machine is having there first official practice/exhibition match of the year on Tuesday May 9th at the South Carleton High School in Richmond at 6pm. If you feel like coming out to watch, we’d love to see you attend.

Here’s a map

MM

Revenge Is Sweet

Mean Machine finished off the regular season with 8 Wins, 4 Ties, 2 loses and 8 shutouts. We had 37 goals for and only 15 against. It’s hard to believe that we finished in 3rd place with that record. What’s next? Mean Machine is now scheduled to play our first playoff game tonight at 11pm against the one and only ‘Les Panties’. For those of you who don’t know who they are, they’re our nemesis. Of the two games we played against them this year, they’ve beaten us both times. They were the only team that handed us an L this year. One game was very close at 3 -2 while the other ended 5 – 2.

Let’s go back to playoff history versus ‘Les Panties’ formerly ‘Black Widows’. We’ve only played them once in the playoffs before which resulted in a Mean Machine victory, game ended 3 -1 if I’m not mistaken. We walked away with the shirts that year.

In tonight’s match, Mean Machine will have all resources available and will no doubt come out hard from the opening right till the finish. If we have something to prove, this is it.

GO MEAN MACHINE

2006 Road Snow Soccer

Every year Mean Machine gets together during the Winter months and head to the Terp's cottage in Quebec. It's always a super fun weekend and everyone does there best to attend. This year, a group of us got together outside and played some Road Snow Soccer. I've had a video of this for awhile but I wasn't able to display it, until now. Here it is in all it's glory, minus the skills. Enjoy.

Mean Machine Downs Panteras

Last Thursdays match up between Mean Machine and Las Panteras was a tough one. The game started and within the first minute, Machine came out fast and fighting both receiving yellow cards. I think Panteras (Who were leading in the standings prior) took Machine a little too lightly from the get go and were still on cloud 9 after spanking ‘Les Panties’ 3 – 2 the week before.

Within the first 10 minutes of the half, Mean had many opportunities to rack the score up high, but many drifted wide, hit a post or were saved by the keeper. It wasn’t until about the 20 minute mark that a sweet cross by Matt McGloin was received on the inside foot of Jason Rinaldi during a pirouette style spin resulting in first blood. Holding on to the 1 goal lead was crucial moving into the second half, as the opposition pressed hard before the whistle.

The second half came and went with even more chances going the way side. Jamie Vossen stood tall gaining his 8th (record setting) shutout for the Mean Machine. With that W Mean Machine moved into 3rd place with 27 points, only 1 point behind Bells Corners with whom we play next. Defeating Bell’s Corners is our next challenge and one we will have to do without our star goalie. Stepping up to the plate is our outdoors keeper Jeff Terpstra. Get your game face on Big Guy; it’s time to take 2nd place and face ‘Les Panties’ in the final.

GO MEAN MACHINE!!

Machine Hand Innovance 11th L

Mean Machine came out fast and strong on Thursday defeating Innovance 6 - 0 handing them there 11th L on the season. They have not won a game all year and we didn't want to be the first to do it. Machine really capitalized on a majority of the chances keeping them on there heals the whole game. It was a great result, but we have bigger fish to fry this week.

Our next 2 match ups are against the current 2nd and 3rd place teams ‘Las Panteras’ and ‘Bells Corners’. We are currently in 4th only a point away from 3rd and 3 away from 2nd. Obviously these games are big for us. In both previous games against these teams the result ended in a tie. We are looking for WINS this time around.

Let's get our game faces on boys and do this up right.

Mean Machine

Middle Of The Pack, Gunning For 1st.

With our recent track record, Mean Machine moves from 1st down to 4th within the last 4 weeks. Our record is as follows: 10 games played, 5 wins, 3 ties and 2 L’s both coming from ‘Les Panties’. We have 25 goals, 12 against and a +/- of 13. We are in 4th with 18 points.

We play at 8pm this week against the ‘Misfires’. Our last game against them resulted in a 1 – 0 win for the Machine and Jamie getting his 3rd shutout of the season. Jamie currently holds the record in our league this year with 6 shutouts in 10 games. Considering the position we’re in, it gives you a good indication of how close each team in the league really is.

With the season past the half way marker, Machine has 4 tough games remaining before playoffs. We play in order The Misfires, Innovance, Las Panteras and Bells Corners. Having already played all 4 teams we have a record of 2 wins and 2 ties. Gaining a win against each should put us at the top of the leader board again.

Our team is also looking forward to the return of a few injured starters which have been away for the last few weeks. It’s now time to get primed as the end of Indoor is near, paving the way for outdoor.

Go Mean Machine!!!

Back On Track

After four tough weeks that included 3 draws, and a loss to Les Panties in the eagerly anticipated West Side Darby, the Mean Machine finally get back into the win column.

A rejuvenated Machine stepped onto the field Thursday night against 3 Guys and Her. They were in top form from the get go, and never let up. Simply put, the boyz kicked some ass! A hat trick for Pascal, league leading sixth shutout Vossen, and pefomance of the season for the older Terp. The marking was so tight that the orange opponents couldn't squeeze out a fart let alone threaten on goal.

Hopefully this improvement in form continues, and can be carried into the playoffs.

Report from "The Be-Specled One"

From Les Panties:

Micho...here's the game report...

In quite possibly one of the most eagerly anticipated matches in OzDome history, I think 40 emails in 24 hours is proof of that, Mean Machine squared off against Les Panties. The teams were wearing their traditional colors of Black and Yellow respectively. There was one fan there for the yellow team, the supposed spooner, and 5/6 of the black team including that potty mouth blog writing bastard Matty "my ankle is a little sore and I can't play but I'll dish enough smack for an army and then you guys go out and beat them up REAL good" McGloin.

Both teams were a little put off by the appearance of a new referee dressed in some kind of track suit wearing a NASCAR cap. He ended up being ok but spent most of the game in the centre circle, which in indoor is hard to do considering it only has a 3m radius. Plus he seemed to always be in the way when there was traffic in the middle of the field. Whatever!

The game started brightly with the Yellow team knocking the ball around the pitch and carving out some openings to take some shots without any success as the Black teams goalie pulled even more stunning saves out of his ass. Of note, Nance fired a bullet which stung the keeper's chest.

Meanwhile at the other end the Mean Machine were pressuring the defending team into a few mistakes and had a couple of shots float just over the net. That was lucky that they were off target as we'd later find out...

Also of interest in the first few minutes, Nancy tried to leave a couple of impressions (if you know what I mean) on Jeff's back when he stepped in front of her. She happily "bumped" into him letting out an intriguing sound often associated with the goings on in the bedroom. Her man would come to defend her honor later on though as we'd find out.

The first goal arrived after about 16 minutes as the Yellow teams strikers linked up to open the scoring. The be-speckled striker gathered up a pass in front of goal drawing a couple of defenders to him. Meanwhile his fellow striker was streaking (literally because his shorts are always halfway down his ass) down the right had side of the goalie's box...he got the pass and after a couple of oh so delicate touches (Micho, are you sure you don't want some delicate touches too?) scored the goal by just barely squeezing the ball between the keepers' wickets.

Meanwhile in a related story Nancy was sacrificing herself for the good of the team by getting laid in the crease...oh, I mean laid out as she ran into another brick wall. Somehow both players ended up on the ground even though the ball was nowhere around.

On the ensuing kick off, the Blackies passed the ball back to their defence. The yellow pressure arrived and the outlet pass was picked off by Willy the Energizer Bunny who slipped a pass to the first goal scorer who relayed a pass up to his fellow striker who like a flaming ballerina somehow did some sort of spinning pirouet bullshit and careeened the ball into the net beyond the keeper for a 2-0 lead. In a matter of 10 seconds, the floodgates had opened and the Mean Machine were drowning in a hurricane of Yellow rain.

Following the second goal the Mean Machine re-doubled their efforts and twice came close to scoring with one shot being just tipped over the crossbar by the Panty keeper. Les Panties created a few more chances as well but couldn't get another one past the other keep.

There was confusion at halftime as the so-called referee was freakin' on the Yellow team for there being 2 #18's. Did the Mean Machine beeatch about this to the ref to get Les Panties in a bunch?...Another mystery like the changing of the game time we'll probably never get the answer to.

Also of note in the first half, Johnny Mac got a bobo on his back by walking onto the field and spent most of the game walking about bent over like an old man with a stick up his butt. Next time borrow something from your wife that's not as uncomfortable as a stick.

I'm not sure what was discussed at the opposing teams bench but the Panties were reviewing the days emails and wondering why there was no pizza delivered before the game. After the imposter #18 changed his shirt, the second half got under way.

There were chances at both ends as the yellow team tried to move the ball up the field on the ground and the black team kept sending it back through the air. We had to wait another 10 minutes before another goal was scored...The be-speckled striker was at it again dipsy-doodling around the tree like defenders and managed to get a shot off which was spilled to the side by the keeper right at the feet of the streaking striker who tapped the ball into the gapping cage.

Shortly after the Black finally responded with a goal. A powerful, yet directly at the goalie, shot was taken and the yellow teams goalie parried it right back to the shooter. Meanwhile, the goalie did what I will now forever refer to as the inverted turtle => Hmm, why don't I just lie down on my back for a minute and rest while this guy taps the ball into the net!

With the taste of a goal the Mean Machine saw their hopes rise for a few minutes and did their best to create some more chances. Meanwhile at the other end, the yellow team started a 4 way passing play which ended with "I done stained my panties" charging through the box and scoring a goal to make it 4-1.

There was some confusion for the yellow team late in the half as the blonde bombshell was retreating to her defensive position there was a loose ball in the midfield...As she heard her name called she stopped and looked around like a blonde saying what...what? Meanwhile the black team picked up the loose ball and stormed forward. Just for furture reference, when I call your name, it just means I'm open if you feel like passing it to me, ok?

Now...about that defending Nancy's honor thing...about halfway through the second half Jeff and Johnny went up for a head ball and only Johnny walked away. Jeff was laid out face down on the green rug snorting up some of those friggin annoying black rubber bits on the field. As the yellow team went over to see if they could help, the black team were heard lamenting about the couple of pitchers they were about to lose. Jeff did need some help off the field because of a bobo on his knee and took no more part in the game.

With only a couple of minutes left in the game off a defensive turnover, the be-speckled striker picked up the loose ball rounded the defender and with the goalie charging out gently rolled the ball past the keeper with the outside of his boot for a fifth goal for the yellow team.

But wait....the drama of this massive titanic battle royale was not over...with less than 20 seconds left and the yellow goalie
taking a goal kick the be-speckled striker shouted back "See Johnny". Did the goalie do what he was told and see Johnny you ask or look for the Swimmer on the other side? The answer is no. He decided to do a no look pass right to the opposing team and with 10 seconds left, the black team got another consolation goal with a quick pass and a bullet shot into the open net as this time the keeper pulled what I'll now refere to as amini-turtle and simply covered his face to try and preserve his good looks and hide his shame!

So there you go Micho the full scoop from the yellow teams perspective. You can check out
http://ottawameanmachine.blogspot.com/ for the black teams point of view. Yeah we hope to see up in the finals too or at least at some point in the playoffs. I can hear the smack already especially if we had a week to build it up.

Personally, I can't remember the last time I was pumped up for the beginning of an OzDome game. Perhaps it was all that listening to AC/DC for 3 days straight leading up to game time. The game was played hard and clean and all that smack made it even more fun to play followed by another long session in the OzBar. Thanks Mean Machine...that was fun.

And I'm out,
JR

Great Game, Hard Loss

Mean Machine had one of its biggest battles last night facing ‘Les Panties’ who are in 1st place in the division. Before this game, Mean Machine had only 1 loss which was handed to us by LP early in the season. Because we know this team and get along with them, there were many emails trailing back and forth between team members. Lots of bashing and lots of laughing!! It got to the point where Mean Machines Justin Owen put a bet of two pitchers of draft on the line.
The game started off with a fast pace, each side getting many chances. Both keepers kept there respective teams in the game making some key saves early. Midway through the first half ‘Les Panties’ struck first with a strange goal. Everyone thought ‘THE GIRL’ (aka Nancy) popped it in as she ended up on her back in front of Jamie. Ok, what’s up with that… she’s been falling in front of Jamie a lot lately? John, you better watch your wife man!! We found out later it was another team member that got the goal. LP struck again shortly after to go up 2 – 0. MM had some other great chances, but just couldn’t capitalize on them. The half ended quickly remaining 2 – 0 for the opposition.

During the break a few strategies were developed and needed to be used in the 2nd half to slow the play down and gain control. Our plans worked (We’re not going into details with these strategies because we realized the opposition now reads this blog) and allowed us to change the game to our style of play. However there were a few break downs in our end midway through the 2nd which resulted in another goal against us. With the score 3 – 0 Mean Machine rallied on a miss play as Leo chipped a quick pass up to Nathan, who then chipped it over the keeper. MM was now on the board and seemed to have some momentum. This was quick lived as LP came back immediately on a nifty pass play to pot another putting the score at 4 – 1. They then scored again on a break with a lone shot, just getting by Jamie on the short side. With the score at 5 – 1 and only 30 seconds on the board, Pascal broke through on a pass from Jason but missed the net. With now only 20 seconds remaining LP attempted a short pass to the D which Jason was able to intercept. He then turned and passed AGAIN to a rushing Pascal who was able to blast the ball into the net with only 12 seconds left.

The game ended with a final score 5 – 2 for ‘Les Panties’.

After the game, Justin true to his word bought LP 2 pitchers of the cheapest draft the OZ Dome had to offer. Mean Machine gathered around, glasses in hand and cheered to the game. Yes we lost the game, but we played great as a team. I think everyone was happy with that. And overall it doesn’t matter anyway… because we’ll be seeing these guys in the finals. There is no doubt about that.

Mean Machine.

Mean Machine Recruits Them Young

On March 3rd at 2:15pm Brent and Sarah Quade were blessed with an 8 pound, 7 ounce baby boy, Rowan. Can you believe all this happened in one game??

The match started off on a quick note with both sides getting some early chances. Neither side was successful for the first 15 minutes of the half. At around the 20 minute mark Dave “The Dad” Law broke through on a mission and netted his 1st goal of the season. It was great solo effort that got the group pumped. Dave also had another great shot on a screen by Matt McGloin. The shot became a deflection off McGloin's foot and out of bounds. I think it would have missed the net anyway!! No other goals were scored in the half but a lot of fouls were called, which set the stage for Mean Machines most physical game of the year.

We took to the pitch in the 2nd with a little less spark than we had in the first. Because of a small break down (And no Brent Quade in the lineup) a cross slipped through from the opposition and onto the foot of there chubby forward, who deflected it top shelf. This goal broke Jamie’s shutout street of 3 ½ games. It was a great ride Jamie, but you can’t be perfect forever. Let’s get back to the REAL WORLD. The rough play continued and within a few short minutes our first yellow card was awarded thanks to a small fight that broke out on the field. Pasqual got a slap in the face (Those pansy ass Panteras) and he retaliated. Both players got the yellow and we played short for 2 minutes. 1 minute into the 2 minute penalty, Mean Machine got nailed with another Yellow card (Dave Law) which put us down another body. We managed to fight it off and maintain the 1 – 1 tie. Great Job Boys!!

At this point, both teams were battling for every ball while the ref continued to call fouls. He literally stopped the match and gave both teams a warning. Shortly after this, the ref called another foul on the Pansies. Instead of continuing like normal the pansies decided they would argue the call. While that was happening the free kick was taken and quickly passed to a charging Randal who managed to blast it past the unwary keeper. This caused even more commotion with the Pansies and the Ref. Somewhere in the ruckus all you could hear was, “that’s how the game is played kids.” I found out later it was Dave Law who sang that tune.

About 5 minutes and a few fouls later, the Pansies managed to capitalize on a corner kick while Mean Machine was trying to regroup. I guess this was retribution for our quick goal earlier. ‘The lord givith and the lord takith away’

In the final minutes Jason Terpstra was granted a trip to the sin bin for his yellow card on a bad tripping call. Mean Machine pulled together, kept there head up and fought off the penalty. In the dying seconds Pasqual had a chance off a long throw by Jamie. The ball took a bounce which tipped off his toe just shy of the net. The buzzer sounded with the game ending in a 2 – 2 tie.

Overall we knew that ‘Las Panteras’ would come out fighting. We have always played physical games against them. We just didn’t expect it to be THAT Physical. The official update has not been put on the site, but I believe that this tie could put us in either 2nd or 3rd place. Our next game is against Bells Corners who are also at the top of the leader board. This game will be no easy match and everyone SHOULD be on hand.

Mean Machine.

Mean Machine Take 1st Place

With our win last Thursday Mean Machine officially take top spot in the standings. We are tied overall with 'Les Panties' and 'Bells Corners' with 12 points but we are dominating in the +/- with an amazing 13. I guess Jamie’s 4 shutouts and some great goal scoring by the whole team is the reason behind it.

I attempted to build something that will allow you to see all the results, but it just won't work in the blogger. So I've attached the OZ Dome link with the full stats so you can see for yourself. This team has never allowed a game to go by without a fight. So it will surely be a tough one. Jason Rinaldi made Mean Machine history by scory the two quickest goals in team history. The first half was dominated by the Machine. Great one touch passing and continuous player movement created chances that the opponents could not keep up with. The midfield play of Chris Huddleston who was moved up from his usual defensive position was inspired (maybe he should stay there). Passcal DeBrienne showed his usual control and playmaking skills as well as striking a goal. Defense marking was at peak form as well as brillant control and ball movement by the defenders.

The Machine's all-start goalie didn't see much action in the first half, but that changed in the second. Play of game still favoured the Machine during the second half, but Innovance put up more of a fight, and had a great flurry of chances and shots near the end of the game. A mid air collision between Jamie Vossen and Chris Huddleston gave the team manager a minor ulser, but it wasn't enough to stop Jamie from stoning Innovance with some incredible saves including a point blank blast to the face followed up shortly by a diving save across the net. The league leading 4th shutout was barely preserved, and Pascal DeBrienne potted his second of the game from a fast break counter attack.

The team manager was quoted as saying: "It was the most fun game of the season". "The beers haven't tasted that good in a while". "Now the challenge is to build on the quality play, and continue against tougher opponents".

Mean Machine Wins - Matt Mis Fires More Than Once.

Mean Machine managed to pull off a tight 1 - 0 win last night over the Misfires, thanks to a sweet goal by Matt McGloin at the 10 minute mark of the first. Yes BRENT, I SCORED and I'm going to do a long write up about it. Ha ha ha.

Mean Machine was short handed going into this game while the Misfires had a few subs. I think we’re all thanking Jamie for playing with ‘Les Panties’ last week, because they offered there services in return for this match. Much appreciated guys.

The game started off quickly with both sides running the ball and getting chances. Jamie came out big again for us making some amazing saves, especially in the last 5 minutes of the game. This is now his 3rd shutout in 4 games. Can you say MVP? As noted above, at about the 10 minute marker of the 1st a goal was finally potted putting Mean Machine ahead. Many other chances followed (Matt couldn’t buy another goal!!) but nothing was getting in. I will admit I pulled a Randal on more than one occasion blowing the ball well over the net.

In the 2nd half both teams were tired and showing signs of fatigue. With the game being so close and all other attempts at scoring brought to a halt; it was obvious that we needed to play the defensive and maintain the 1 – 0 lead for the win. We managed to do just that (With Jamie providing some much needed goaltending) stealing the win. Mean Machine remains (Not Officially on the OZ Site) in second place with a 3 – 1 record.

12 Goals for and 3 against in 4 games; not bad gentleman.

Until next week,

Mean Machine.

Misfires At 11:00PM Tonight

It's GAME NIGHT. With the league standings being so close (Sitting in 2nd tied with Bells Corners at 6 points, ahead because we have 8 on the +/-) we need a big win this week to stay ahead. I have a strong feeling that goals for and goals against will defiantly be the key to winning top spot this season.

On Thursday night at 11pm we play the Misfires who are sitting in 5th. The 1st place team ‘Les Panties’ play the 7th place team ‘Watchfire’ and the 3rd place team ‘Bells Corners’ play the 8th place team ‘Innovance’. Needless to say they both play easier teams; they also play earlier and will probably score tons of goals. We’ll need to be VERY offensive in order to stay with the pack. Let’s get our game faces on gentleman.

Mean Machine

Mean Machine Win 3 - 0

The first 30 Minutes: The Mean Machine came out strong, dominating the game and passing extremely well. I think we actually passed too much, which isn’t our normal game plan. At first it threw us off, because we’re not use to having SO much time with the ball. The first half ended quickly with the game still tied 0 – 0. At the half a few ideas were brought to the table; the main one being a need for constant pressure on the keeper. We needed to be in his face the whole second half. The reason for this was because of his bad hands. Every ball that was fired at him left some big rebounds. We had a few rebound shots, with no success. So obviously we needed more.

The final 30: The second half started and we came out even stronger. It wasn’t long before the first goal was netted. The play started with a quick ball in the corner which was kicked out by the defense giving us a corner kick. I (Matt) took a look and saw Jason standing in front of the keeper. With the pressure on the net I fired a quick shot that deflected off Jason’s shin and into the goal. I think everyone felt a weight lifted off there shoulders as we FINALLY got the goal we had been waiting for. It wasn’t pretty, but it worked!! From that point on it was smooth sailing. Brent scored the second off a foul just outside the half. He lobbed a ball nice and high at the net (with Jason again applying much needed pressure on the keeper.) The ball found its mark. No less than 3 minutes later Justin Peca was forcing a push on the right with two others closing in on the left. He decided to take the shot on a sharp angle that hit the keeper and some how sliced between his legs.

In Nets: Jamie didn’t have to make as many saves in this game as he normally does, but the ones he did make were great. He’s currently only allowed 3 regulation goals in 3 games. Great work Jamie.

Controversy: I had to bring this up as a request from some of the boys. Jamie was approached last night by ‘Les Panties’ to play net for them. He accepted and played an outstanding game coming out with a 4 – 1 win. The game wasn’t the controversial part. What really surprised everyone was when he left OUR table and sat down with ‘Les Panties’ for beers afterward. When this happened we all got up and left for the night, leaving Jamie (who normally doesn’t stay around long) alone with the opposition. I think it had to do with a certain Blonde in a headband landing face first on his crotch during the match. But who know???

Overall: Currently we’re sitting in second place with 2 wins and 1 lose, 9 points total. We are tied for second in goals for with 11 and were in first for goals against with 3. Lets keep it up guys!!!

Mean Machine

Chance For 1st Place : 8PM OZ Dome

Tonight the Mean Machine Play against 12 Guys and Her, 8pm at the OZ Dome. We are currently in 3rd place looking to make 2nd with a possibility of 1st. To do this, we'll need to come out strong and score lots of goals, as our opponents have the worst goals for with 9 in 2 games. We’ll also need very few goals against. We do play great defensively and have Jamie in net; he has the only shutout in the 2nd season. We’re going for two.

A detailed recap will follow. Mean Machine lost in a close battle 3 - 2 to Les Panties. I don't know what I was thinking, but Les Panties turned out to be a different team than I originally thought they were. Les Panties went by the name ‘Black Widows’ last year not ‘Las Panteras’. The last couple of years they have been the #1 team. This is the team we actually beat in the final to win the championship a year ago. Alright, back to the story.

The First Half: The game started and as we figured, they had there passing game working great. They did it so well; we ended up playing catch up the majority of the match. But it didn’t keep us from getting chances. We actually struck first with Nathan potting a nice low shot to the right corner. It was a great pass up the middle, giving Nathan his 4th on the season in 2 games. Les Panties struck shortly after to even the match and again before the half to take a 2 – 1 lead. There second goal was very lucky, it should have ended 1 – 1. I have to say that Jamie kept us in the game with some amazing saves in the first half. Well done buddy.

The Second Half: A very tired Mean Machine re-grouped and came out with a new game plan in the second. We really had to start sticking to our man and talking as a team. We accomplished this task and shortly after Pascal netted his 3rd of the season. This goal was amazing, I can’t even describe it. Put it this way, the Ref even said… “Probably the most amazing goal I’ve ever seen.” Way to go Pascal, great move. Now we all have something to strive for. The tie was short lived however as the Panties notched another about 3 minutes later. The remaining 7 minutes was well played on both ends, each side putting on more pressure. A lot of chances, but no goals.

Overall: I think we put up a great fight in this game, proving that we shouldn’t be underestimated this season. We might have lost the game, but we are still leading in goals for with 8 and only 3 against in 2 games. Normally losing against a team 3 – 2 would get you down. But because of who they are, it just means we should be in for a GREAT season.

Justin also had the camera out and took a few pics. There was a problem with the shutter speed as some of them came out blurry. I didn’t bother posting those, so I don’t have many. I hope you enjoy.

After the Game

Mean Machine.

Big Game Tonight - Ass Kicking Time!!

Hello everyone,

I know a post has been made about this game already. We play the 'Les Panties' who use to be called Las Panteras. Ok, now this is funny. Last year we called them The Lost Panty Wearers because of the name, so I think they might have heard that floating around and just decided to change the name to reflect that. Either they’re really smart or just plan silly. I know we’ve done well against these guys in the past, but it was never easy. Needless to say, this should be a wicked game. Come on out Mean Machine supporters and watch this match.

For those that don’t make it out, we’ll have a post game wrap-up on Friday.

Thanks all,
Mean Machine.

Great Way To Start The Season

VICTORY IS OURS!!!!

Mean Machine played the first official game of the season last night against the Watchfire. We came out fast from the beginning and dominated the whole game. A strong performance netted us a 6 - 0 victory, which was a total Team Effort. Jamie also gets his first shutout of the season. Way to go guys lets take this momentum into next week’s game. The one downfall, Matt forgot to bring his camera, sorry guys no pics. However a video camera was on hand, thanks to Dave. Justin was able to capture the whole thing. We’ll be getting everyone together shortly to watch it and talk about it.

Goals Scored: Nathan with 3, Pascal with 2 and Matt with 1.
Assists: Who knows??? We were passing like crazy last night, so I wouldn’t be surprise if everyone got one at some point.
Shutout: Jamie played an amazing game and made some big stops when needed. Great work man.

Overall, the night was a success and everyone stayed for a beverage afterward. Winners get a cheaper price, so why not?

See you all next week gentleman.

Current Mean Machine Members

I thought a post to let you know who the current Mean Machine Members are would be nice.
